PROGRAMS
The Turn
The Turn offers students who have received disciplinary infractions an opportunity to attend the program as a form of restorative practices in lieu of a suspension. Staff and parents/guardians are also encouraged to identify individuals they believe need additional support and would benefit from the program.

Meet the Founder
Kessa Early is passionate and devoted to helping youth feel empowered and has mastered the skill of creating a safe space for young people to feel respected, cared for, and supported while being educated.
Born and raised in Marin County, she has devoted 24 years to advocating for and supporting youth as an educator in Novato Unified School District. For the past 19 years, Dr. Early has served as principal of alternative education at the same site, working alongside students who seek an alternative pathway to earning their high school diploma. In 2018, she founded Early Vibes Incorporated to further expand her impact beyond the school setting.
In addition to her work in schools, Dr. Early helped develop Assembly Bill 2251 for the state of California with Assemblymember Damon Connolly, expanding opportunities for students experiencing mental health challenges to graduate with the state’s required credits rather than the often significantly higher district requirements. She also serves as a consultant for Solution Tree Publishing Company, supporting educators nationwide in building inclusive and effective school cultures.
Dr. Early earned her doctorate in May 2024 through the LEAD program at UC Berkeley. She also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a Bachelor’s degree, and an administration credential from Sonoma State University, as well as a teaching credential from Dominican University.
